DALBY CATTLE SALE – WEDNESDAY 29TH NOVEMBER 2017

  • YARDING NUMBERS: 5,614
  • LOCATION: Dalby
  • DATE: Nov 29, 2017
  •

The supply of stock into the saleyards experienced a large increase of 1,571 head. There was a wide variation in quality across all classes and large runs of yearling heifers dominated the selling pens. Buyer attendance was generally good, however the much larger numbers allowed average prices to ease across a number of categories. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock experienced fair demand for the better quality lines. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed experienced very little change in price. However, heifer supply exceeded demand, seeing prices ease by around 10c and over 20c/kg in places. Heavy grown steers and bullocks to export slaughter were 12c to 13c/kg cheaper. Cows also sold to a cheaper trend, easing by 12c to 13c and up to 18c/kg. A large sample of light weight yearling steers returned to the paddock at an average of 356c, with a few pens reaching 386.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed sold around 312c with the occasional pen to 339.2c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged close to 300c and made to 310c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers were well supplied and most sold to restockers or backgrounders for an average of 318c, with some to 348.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed were in the
largest numbers and averaged 293c, after making to 312.2c/kg. Heavy grown steers to export slaughter averaged 276c and made to 278.2c, while the bullock portion made to 281.2c, to average 278c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 204c and the 3 scores averaged 215c/kg. Good heavy cows made to the occasional 235c, with most around 227c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 270.2c/kg.
