Just add rain was the message at Emerald today where agents offered 1200 head of predominately good quality cattle.
Drawn from Hughenden, Eidsvold, Nebo, Moranbah, Alpha, Rolleston, Clermont and within the local area. Buyer support was good across all categories. Processors were active on anything in forward condition & re-stockers showed renewed vigour particularly looking to put steers, store condition or light weight cattle back to the paddock.
Processors pushed bullocks to 267c to a/v 259. Heavy heifers were too few to quote.
Heavy cows made to 220c improving 12c, medium cows improved 29c to reach 220c, young number 5 cows sold to 225c. Limited numbers of light cows increased 23c, bulls sold to 249c to a/v 231c an increase of 7c.
Feeder Steers 400 to 500kg sold to 292c to a/v 272 to a/v 23c better. Steers 350 to 400kg peaked at 296c to a/v 289c.
Only a small number of Feeder heifers were offered to top at 263c. Heifers 280 to 350 kg sold to 285c to a/v 258c up 7c.
Weaner cattle under 280 kg showed significant improvement. Weaner Steers 200-280kg sold to 379c to a/v 357c to improve 46c.
Weaner Steers under 200kg topped the sale at 383c to a/v 360c.
Weaner Heifers 200-280kg sold to a top of 308c up 31c and Weaner Heifers under 200kgs sold to a/v 286c a gain of 50c.
1 pen of mixed quality Brangus cows & calves made $1,060 per unit.
