BLACKALL CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – THURSDAY 16TH JUNE 2022
Numbers held firm at 1,100 head this week at Blackall. Most cattle were drawn from the local catchment areas and overall quality was good. All the usual buyers were present and active however prices for prime cattle could not maintain the levels of the previous weeks. The return of a regular feeder operator saw a lift in both medium weight yearling steers and heifers. A small number of restocker cattle were on offer and buyers operated selectively.
Light weight restockers steers under 200kg saw a top of 728c/kg, those 200 to 280kg steers made to 680 to average 614c/kg. Medium weight feeder steers sold to 554.2 to average 541c and restockers paid up to 602c/kg for those returning to the paddock. An increase in quality saw a lift in heavy feeder prices with feeder operators paying up to 520c to average 513c/kg.
Light weight restocker heifers made to 606.2 to average 548c while medium weight heifers to feed were pushed along by an extra feeder operator with the top pen selling to 514.2 to average 494c/kg. Heavy feeder heifers also saw good competition selling to 496.2 and averaging 454c/kg.
Prime grown steers lost ground this week selling to 402.2 while those going onto feed made to 446c/kg. Medium cows made to 225c to average 311c, and good heavy cows sold to 343c averaging 332c/kg. Heavy bulls held firm on last week making to 340.2 to average 329c/kg.
