CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER 2024

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 2,328 cattle at today’s Prime Sale consisting of 2,318 Prime cattle & 10 Store cattle. The Prime cattle consisted of 671 Bullocks, 208 Heifers, 1,261 Cows and 178 Bulls. There were also 10 x 8 Cows & Calves sold.

Cattle comprised of an increased yarding of fat cattle, with large numbers of Bullocks & Cows yarded, and the rates easing slightly in places to absorb numbers. Bulls maintained recent prices and showed increases in places with the addition of a Live Exporter to the regular buying panel. The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Hughenden, Georgetown, Einasleigh, Winton, Burketown as well as local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes: Bullocks quoted unchanged, Heifers were 10¢ easier, Cows were 5¢ easier, and Bulls were 12¢ dearer on last week’s rates.

  • A pen of 17 Well finished Brahman Bullocks A/c LCB Cattle, “Huonfels”, Georgetown made 320¢/kg, and weighed 604kg to return $1,932 per head
  • Bullocks topped at 328¢/kg on a/c R & L Braes, “Haven Downs”, Winton that weighed 531kg to return $1,741 per head.
  • Best priced Trade Heifers were presented on A/c Bar AD Pty Ltd, “Nocoleche”, Hughenden, that sold for 278¢/kg and weighed 483kg to return an average of $1,344 per head.
  • The top pen of Cows were sold by Sefton Grazing, “Liontown”, Charters Towers for 289¢/kg, weighing 527kg to return $1,523 per head.
  • Heavy Cows sold on A/c Greengrass Developments Pty Ltd, “Talavera”, Charters Towers made 288¢/kg, to weigh 550kg and returned $1,585 per head.
  • Bulls sold on a/c Bar AD Pty Ltd, “Nocoleche”, Hughenden, topped at 298¢/kg and weighed 695kg, to return $2,072 per head.
