CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 8TH MAY 2024

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 1,000 Cattle, consisting of 344 Prime Cattle and 656 Store Cattle. The Prime Cattle consisted of 64 Bullocks, 31 Heifers, 211 Cows and 38 Bulls. The Store section consisted of 492 Steers, 60 Mickeys and 104 Heifers.

 Cattle comprised of small lines of mixed quality and conditioned Prime Cattle with one line of Northern bred Brahman Steers accounting for the majority of the Store section. The yarding was drawn from Boulia, Mt Isa, Richmond, Normanton, Croydon, Georgetown, Greenvale, as well as local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 15¢ easier, Heifers were 10¢ easier, Cows were firm, and Bulls were 15¢ easier on last week’s rates.

  • Bullocks sold on a/c LT & CP Curley, Sutherland, Georgetown topped at 228¢/kg, to weigh 626kg to return $1,427 per
  • Best Priced trade Heifers were presented on a/c West Leichhardt, Mt Isa that sold for 232¢/kg, and weighed 418kg to return $969 per
  • The top pen of Cows were sold by a/c Camm Pastoral Co, Walhalla, Malanda for 218¢/kg, weighing 613kg to return $1,338 per
  • Bulls sold on a/c JA & SJ Webster, Mt Little, Georgetown, topped at 220¢/kg and weighed 655kg, to return $1,442 per

 

Store Quotes: Store cattle were made up of one large line of Northern bred Feeder Steers along with a handful of local cattle. Prices reflected quality.

  • A pen of 29 Charbray Steers a/c Morr Morr Pastoral, Maggieville, Normanton made 282¢/kg and weighed 347kg, returning an average of $977 per head.
  • A pen of 17 Brahman Steers a/c Tewinga Pastoral Holdings, Canary, Boulia made 2¢/kg, to weigh 372kg and return $894 per head.
  • A pen of 10 Brahman Steers a/c JMS Electrical & Instrumentation, Cromarty made 268¢/kg, to weigh 167kg and return $447 per head.
  • A good pen of 25 Heifers on a/c Tewinga Pastoral Holdings, Canary, Boulia made 208¢/kg, weighed 351kg returning $731 per head.
