DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 15TH JUNE 2022

  • Yarding Numbers: 6,014
  • Location: Dalby
  • Date: June 15, 2022

The supply of stock climbed to the highest level for eight months, with the Dalby agents penning 6,014 head, 3,849 head more than the previous week. A large run of 1,097 head from far Western Queensland, and 109 head from New South Wales, plus one single consignment of 508 head from South Australia helped to lift overall supply. Export buyer attendance was not as good as the previous week with one major exporter absent from the buying panel.

However the regular feed and trade buyers plus restockers were in attendance and operating. Light weight yearling steers and heifers returning to the paddock could not maintain the high levels of the previous week with only quality lines in demand. Yearling steers to feed followed a similar trend. Yearling heifers to feed experienced strong support for the quality penned. A small selection of heavy grown steers and bullocks sold to firm demand. Cows generally sold to a cheaper trend with good heavy weight cows 8c less, while medium weight score 2 lines averaged over 20c/kg cheaper.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers were well supplied and sold to 784c with a very large sample averaging 647c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 563c to 586c with sales to 634c, with some to restockers reaching 686c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to an isolated 588c with a large selection averaging 523c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers were well supplied and made to 670c to average 566c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 545c to 553c with sales to 574c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 520c to average 480c/kg.

A handful of bullocks made to 438c to average 426c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 312c and made to 327c/kg. Heavy weight 3 scores averaged 346c, and the best of the cows made to 370c to average 362c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 348c/kg. Cows and calves made to $2,900/unit.
