EMERALD CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – THURSDAY 7TH NOVEMBER 2024

  • Yarding Numbers: 1,275
  • Location: Emerald
  • Date: November 7, 2024

Numbers lifted albeit vendors are doing their best to hold on until the first storms arrive with a yarding of 1275 head for this week’s Emerald combined sale; the quality & presentation was fair with a lesser supply of lighter conditioned cattle present. Weaner & yearling steers & heifers (predominately under 350kg) produced the greatest numbers with only small samples of heavy slaughter animals presented.

All regular processor & feeder accounts were operating, the male portion to feed or processors showed improvement and all females in the same categories mostly held firm.

Whilst in the weaner steer & heifer classes the market bucked the weather trend & found solid competition to see prices improve, if we look back 3 or 4 weeks a large portion of the weaner heifers have seen an improvement of 60 & 70c during this period. Overall a pleasing result given a deteriorating season for many areas.
