GRACEMERE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 21ST AUGUST 2024
Combined agents at Gracemere this week yarded a total of 2460 head consisting of 1364 steers, 735 heifers, 228 cows, 56 cows & calves, 11 bulls, & 66 mickeys. This week the market overall was 17 cents stronger than the previous sale due to large numbers and greater quality in the yarding. The steer market as a whole was strong with a number of light weaner pens reaching up to and over $4/kg. The weaner steer market averaged 321c/kg with a top price of 436c/kg. Feeder steers averaged 332c/kg and reached a top price of 380c/kg. There was a good quality yarding of heifers this week. Weaner heifers sold for an average of 253c/kg with a top price of 304c/kg. Feeder heifers averaged 265c/kg with a top price of 284c/kg. The cow market was firm to slightly stronger this week, averaging 237c/kg to top out at 278c/kg. The bull market and cow & calf market both held firm this week.
