MURGON FAT & STORE CATTLE SALE – TUESDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER 2024
Agents yarded 680 at the fortnightly Murgon sale today.
Export & Feeder cattle sold to strong rates as did better quality weaner steers. Better quality weaner heifers were firm, the lesser quality heifers difficult to shift. Heavy Bulls sold to $2.84 per kilogram and $3040.00. Bullocks sold to $3.38 c/kg and $2050.00. Heavy Cows over 500 kg topped at $2.85 per kilogram and $2010.00 averaging $2.63 cents per kilo. Cows 400 to 500 kg sold to a top of $2.70 per kilogram for $1340.00. Cows up to 400 kg topped at $1.90 c/kg & $640.00. Export heifers sold to $3.20 per kilogram for $1970.00. Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Mundubbera, Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy, Proston Durong, Kilkivan, Glastonbury, Kilcoy and locally.
460 kg Charbray steers from Murgon sold to $3.77 c/kg to return $1740.00. Limousin cross steers from Blackbutt weighing 330 kg sold for $1300.00 at $3.94 c/kg. 330 kg Santa cross steers from Goomeri sold for $1280.00 at $3.88 c/kg. Local Angus cross steers, 377 kg sold to $3.71 c/kg to realise $1400.00. A line of 40 Santa steers ex Gayndah sold to $3.92 c/k averaging 274 kg and $1077.00. 290 kg Limousin cross steers sold for $3.90 c/kg and $1130.00. 2 pens of Hereford cross steers from Kilcoy sold for $3.88 c/kg to return $1070.00 (275 kg) & $1050.00 (270 kg). Light Santa cross weaner steers from Glastonbury sold for $3.60 c/kg returning $670.00. 340 kg Santa cross heifers from Goomeri sold for 2.80 c/kg for $960.00. Local angus cross heifers also sold to $2.80 c/kg and $965.00. Santa heifers from Gayndah weighing 311 kg sold for $903.00 at $2.90 c/kg. Angus cross weaner heifers from Tansey sold for $688.00 at $2.70 c/kg. Santa cross cows & Calves sold to $1225.00.
