WARWICK SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT – 15TH DECEMBER 2021

Agents penned 1,773 sheep and lambs with 1,339 lambs and 434 grown sheep for the last sale for the year. The overall yarding was good with well finished trade lambs and mutton on offer, along with quality store and feeder lines. All the regular butchers, wholesalers and processors were present and very active with a large panel of restockers and feeder operators – who lifted the price on all classes. Young lambs in the 12-16kg range to restockers averaged $143 and sold to $151/head. Young lambs to the butcher trade sold to $199/head. Lambs in the 18-20kg range to feeder buyers sold to $189 and averaged $179/head. With the ewe portion to restockers at $213/head. Butcher weight lambs sold to $217 and averaged $203/head. Lambs to the wholesale meat trade averaged $211 and sold to $229/head. Heavy lambs to processors sold from $232 to $252 and averaged $234/head. Hoggets to processors sold to $225 and averaged $198/head. Heavy ewes to processors sold to $195 with light weight ewes to restockers selling to $242/head. Wethers to processors made $180/head. Ram lambs to the butcher trade averaged $201 and sold to $207/head.
