WARWICK SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 15TH JUNE 2022
The supply of sheep and lambs remained close to last week at Warwick with 1,285 penned being 882 lambs and 403 grown sheep. All the regular export processors attended however not all operated. The regular butchers, wholesalers and feeder buyers were present along with a large panel of restockers and onlookers. Well finished trade and heavy lambs sold to firm prices as did the feeder lines with the ewe portion again receiving strong competition from the restockers good heavy mutton to processors sold to a dearer market.
Young lambs to restockers made $140 and $154 to wholesalers with the ewe lambs selling to $194/head. Butcher weight lambs averaged $178 and sold to $190/head. Lambs to the wholesale meat trade made $201 to average $193. Lambs in the 20-24kg range to feeder buyers made $182 to average $166/head. Heavy lambs to processors sold from $211 to $238/head.-
Hoggets to the wholesale meat trade averaged $172 and sold to $207/head. Heavy ewe mutton to export processors made $204 to average $173/head. Well finished heavy wethers to processors averaged $224 and sold to $230/head. Ram lambs to the wholesale meat trade sold to $179/head. A line of well bred dorper rams found new homes selling to $390 to average $314/head.
