WARWICK SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 27TH JULY 2022
Agents at Warwick penned 1,070 lambs and 252 grown sheep. The usual wholesale and feeder buyers attended along with export processors who did not operate due a backlog of stock at their processing works. The local restockers were very selective in their purchases which resulted in price reductions across young and light lambs returning to the paddock. With the lack of competition from processors all lines of trade and heavy lambs were cheaper from $10-$35/head with the exception of ewe lambs selling to improves rates.
Light weight young lambs to restockers made $80 to average $67 with the heavier young lambs selling to $102 and averaging $92/head. Lambs to the butcher trade averaged $144 and sold to $156 with the ewes to restockers making $199/head. Lambs to feeder operators sold to $153 and averaged $143/head. Lambs to the wholesale meat trade averaged $156 and sold to $164/head.
Hoggets to the wholesale meat trade sold to $166 and averaged $116/head. Light weight store ewes to restockers made $64 with the well finished heavier ewes to the local wholesale trade selling to $100/head. Wethers to the local meat trade sold to $103/head. Dorper rams returning to the paddock sold to $152/head.
