WARWICK SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 28TH AUGUST 2024
Total Yarding: 1892 (+144) | Sheep Yarding: 951 (+238) | Lamb Yarding: 941 (-94)
Warwick agents penned 941 lambs and 951 grown sheep. All the regular buyers attended and operated with very spirited bidding across all lines which resulted in prices for new season lambs lifting in price with older lambs to the wholesale meat trade remaining firm on last week. Extra numbers of hoggets sold to dearer trends as did the heavy mutton on offer.
Young lambs under 12kg to butchers sold from $43 to $70/head. Young lambs in the 16-20kg range to butchers sold from $82 to $111 with those to feeder buyers at $105/head. New season lambs over 20kg to the wholesale meat trade sold from $173 to $193/head. Lambs in the 18-20kg range to feed sold from $89 to $101/head. Light weight trade lambs sold from $149 to $171/head. Trade weight lambs sold from $165 to $191/head. Heavy trade lambs to processors sold from $190 to $223 with the extra heavy lambs topping at $233/head.
Light weight hoggets to restockers made $95/head. Heavy hoggets to processors sold from $122 to $159/head. Ewes to processors sold from $76 to $118/head. Heavy wethers to processors sold from $110 to $120/head. Dorper ram lambs to wholesalers sold from $130 to $170 with the crossbreds at $150/head. Rams to processors sold from $66 to $98/head.
