WARWICK SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 29TH JANUARY 2025
Total Yarding: 2,572 (-413) | Sheep Yarding: 1,711 (+638) | Lamb Yarding: 861 (-1051)
Warwick agents penned 861 lambs and 1,711 grown sheep. The yarding was dominated by grown sheep and light store lambs with only a handful of lambs suited to the processor and wholesale meat trade. The absence of one major processor reduced competition on the trade lamb market however the inclusion of a southern processor increased competition on the mutton yarding with heavy ewes and wethers selling to dearer trends.
Young light weight dorper and cross bred lambs to restockers sold from $15 to $91/head. Young lambs over 16kg to restockers sold from $78 to $104/head. Older lambs in the 18-20kg range to restockers sold from $88 to $98 with those to feeder operators at $115 to $133/head. Light lambs to the butcher trade sold from $120 to $172/head. Lambs over 22kg to the wholesale meat trade sold from $136 to $185 with the heavy lambs to processors at $205 to $234/head.
Crossbred hoggets to processors sold from $115 to $140 with the dorper hoggets at $80 to $159/head. Light weight dorper ewes to processors sold from $26 to $56 with restockers paying to $50/head. Light weight merino ewes sold from $10 to $40 with heavy ewes at $61 to $120/head. Dorper wethers to processors sold from $89 to $115 with merino wethers at $110 to $127/head. Rams to processors sold from $107 to $130/head.
