From The Vendors:
We are excited about this year’s yarding of 100 functional, fertile, grass fed bulls that we believe are the most even line and consistent draft we’ve presented.
As the Rangeland Bulls commercial herd of 5,000 breeders grows, the compounding effect of the breeding program over generations continues to yield production gains through consistently high preg-test and weaning rates and fertile, early maturing bulls.
As always, our focus is squarely on the commercial traits that matter in the paddock and make ongoing improvements to kg of beef/ ha.
Rangeland Bulls are delivering value for the long haul through both bull longevity, lowering cost per calf, and ‘stayability’ in the cow herd ie the ability of a sire to sire females that can reproduce and stay in the herd longer, maintaining days to calving of less than 365 days.
All bulls have had a Vet Bull Breeding Soundness Evaluation (VBBSE) independent assessment to ensure structural and breeding soundness including semen and morphology analysis and physical checks.
Bulls have also been assessed for temperament and have been vaccinated for Vibrio, 3 day, 7-in-1 and tick fever.
Bull videos will be available on AuctionsPlus two weeks prior to the sale. We are currently testing bulls and a full sale catalogue will be emailed over the coming weeks and will also be available to download from our website.
We are again offering free delivery to major selling centres in Queensland and free delivery within 200km of Mareto.
To keep up to date with Rangeland Bulls news you can follow us on Facebook or go to our website.
If you have any questions before the sale or would like to know more about our breeding program please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We do hope you can join us on the 18th of September at Mareto.
About Rangeland Bulls
Bred by Commercial Producers for Profitable Commercial Businesses
As commercially focused beef producers, also selling seed stock, Rangeland Bulls share the growing interest in improving herd productivity and linking bull breeding to the commercial sector. They offer an alternative where animals have been selected for over 20 years based on genetic merit, without any artificial inputs or nutritional advantages. The objectives of their program and selection traits have remained constant over this time, with the goal of optimising net profit per hectare in a commercial environment. They have never set out to produce a large number of bulls and only bulls they would be satisfied to use themselves are offered for sale.
Breeding Objectives:
Temperament
– Structural soundness and vet checked
– No artificial inputs. The entire herd is grass fed, organic.
Fertility
– Selection pressure across the herd means every female must calve unassisted by 2 years of age and continue to wean a calf every 12 months, within a 90 day joining.
Polled
– Intense bull selection. Only top 5 % of male calves selected as bulls for continued genetic gain.
– Early puberty. Selection for scrotal size at weaning and one year old. Bulls must have reached puberty by one year old. Research shows scrotal size needs to be evaluated in terms of ‘how big and how soon’ ie when you want your heifers cycling.
Adaption
– Bred in tough environmental conditions to perform with no artificial inputs. All animals are grass fed, organic certified.
– Bulls in paddock condition, ready to work. View bulls in their ‘working clothes’ to select animals that can perform in a grass-fed environment.
– Market suitability. Selection traits based around fertility and growth patterns to meet organic, MSA market specifications, off grass.
