BLACKALL CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – THURSDAY 17TH OCTOBER 2024
Blackall Combined Agents yarded a total of 2687 head at the weekly Prime & Store sale. The overall quality of the prime cattle was good. The yearling pens were of mixed quality. All categories were of strong competition from the usual full gallery of processors in attendance and operating.
Steers 280-350kgs topped the market at 392.2c/kg to an average 318c/kg. Heifers 450kgs+ made a top of 280.2c/kg to an average 251c/kg. Cows 500kgs+ made a top of 256.2c/kg to an average of 236.9c/kg and heavy Bulls made 242.2c/kg to an average of 209.1c/kg. Cattle were sourced both locally from Blackall, Tambo, Jericho, Aramac, Augathella, Longreach, and areas as well as further north/ northwest from Winton, Julia Creek, Cloncurry & Boulia.

The Neilson Family “Two Rivers” Boulia, sold Simbrah X steers for 392.2c/kg weighing 291kgs for a return of $1142p/hd. They had also sold Charbray heifers for 242.2c/kg weighing 218kgs for a return of $528p/hd. Following with Charbray cows sold for 240.0c/kg weighing 595kgs for a return of $1428p/hd.

They had also sold Droughtmaster heifers for 250.0c/kg weighing 445kgs for a return of $1114p/hd. Following Droughtmaster cows sold for 245.0c/kg weighing 545kgs for a return of $1336p/hd.
