CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 29TH JANUARY 2025
Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 1,260 cattle, consisting of 783 Prime cattle & 477 Store cattle. The Prime cattle consisted of 98 Bullocks, 126 Heifers, 345 Cows and 214 Bulls. The Store section consisted of 225 Steers, 12 Mickeys, 210 Heifers and 30 Cows & Calves.
Cattle comprised of mixed quality and types with a few good lines of Cows. The market fluctuated accordingly with quality and condition with the price decreasing across all types. Bull market was firm with exporters competing. The yarding was drawn from Cloncurry, Hughenden, Richmond, Julia Creek, Forsayth, Collinsville as well as local and coastal areas.
Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 15-30¢ easier, Heifers were 20-30¢ easier, Cows were 20-30¢ easier, and Bulls were 5-15¢ easier on last week’s rates.

- Bullocks topped at 314.2¢/kg for 8 Brahman Ox sold on a/c KA Knuth Investments Pty Ltd, “Glencoe” Charters Towers that weighed 556kg to return $1,747 per head.
- Best Priced trade Heifers were presented on a/c Brett Fry, Malanda that sold for 270¢/kg, weighing 417kg to return $1,125 per head.
- The top pen of Cows were sold by V & T Hill-Warner, Charters Towers for 254.2¢/kg, weighing 499kg to return $1,268 per head.
- Bulls sold on a/c Lennox Family, “Knightly”, Homestead, topped at 300.2¢/kg and weighed 610kg, to return $1,831 per head.
Store Quotes: Store cattle were made up a few good lines of Steers and Heifers with the market remaining firm on last week’s prices with lesser quality types receiving less attention.

- A good pen of 13 Heifers on a/c Kanda NT Pty Ltd, “Rangeside”, Torrens Creek made 278.2¢/kg weighed 270kg returning $751 per head.
- 18 x 18 Cows & Calves sold on a/c V & T Hill-Warner, Charters Towers returned $1,200 per unit.
