INVERELL CATTLE & SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT – TUESDAY 11TH MARCH 2025

Cattle – 160

Rain events through the drawing area reduced the Inverell penning to only 160 head. Buying demand was limited, on a mixed quality offering. Very few heavy cows attracted dearer trends with yearling cattle cheaper overall. Weaner steers 342c to 400c/kg, heifers to 286c/kg both categories to restocker interest. Light background steers 270c to 352c/kg and medium weights to 344c/kg. Yearling heifers under 330 kgs, 268c to 338c/kg to background and 335c/kg to process. Medium weights to the paddock 300c to 334c/kg slightly dearer. Heavy yearling heifers to process 270c to 280c/kg. Medium cows sold to a cheaper trend 240c to 252c/kg, while heavy cows lifted slightly 270c to 303c/kg. Cows to the paddock made to 298c/kg, and medium weight bulls 262c to 275c/kg. There were no heavy bulls on offer

Sheep

Yarding – 2,551 Lambs – 745 Sheep – 1,806

Inverell penned 745 lambs and 1,806 grown sheep under very wet conditions. The majority made up of a mix of grown Merino ewes and wethers, as well as crossbred ewes. A very good offering of lambs were available and resulted in dearer trends throughout. Light lambs to re-stockers lifted for the top end selling up to $127/head. Trade lambs much dearer $155 to $214/head, heavy trades to $218/head. Heavy lambs to $227/head. Extra heavy lambs $250 to $262/head. Heavy hoggets firm $120 to $152/head. Trade crossbred ewes considerably dearer $84 to $125/head, and heavy crossbreds $111 to $155/head. Merino ewes made to $132/head.
