DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 18TH JUNE 2025

There was a slight increase in supply to 5,565 head at Dalby. Southern export buyers were active in the buying panel alongside the regular feedlot and trade operators.

Restocker demand for yearling steers and heifers under 300kg was selective, with steer prices easing by 8c and heifer prices falling by more than 30c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed were 5c to 10c/kg dearer, while heavy weights held firm. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed were cheaper, with little change in the heavy weight category. A limited number of bullocks and grown heifers to export processors sold to a stronger trend. All classes of cows were in demand, selling 8c to 17c/kg dearer.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock topped at 455c and averaged between 406c and 416c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged 413c to 415c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold to 424c and averaged 384c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged 285c and reached up to 346c, while some well-bred lines over 300kg averaged 340c and sold to 361c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 317c to 325c and made to 360c/kg, while heavy weights also reached 360c and averaged 327c/kg. The occasional heavy grown steer to the local meat trade made to 396c/kg. A handful of bullocks sold to 379c, and grown heifers reached 378c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows made to 268c and averaged 262c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 280c, while the best of the heavy weight cows reached 329c to average 304c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 320c/kg.
