EMERALD CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – THURSDAY 19TH JUNE 2025

  • Yarding Numbers: 1,100
  • Location: Emerald
  • Date: June 19, 2025

Emerald agents offered just shy of 1,100 head for this weeks combined sale, quality & presentation was again mixed and whilst most classes presented in good condition a fair portion of the cows lacked finish, perhaps a fair sample having just had weaners pulled off them.

The processing sector for the second or third week in a row kept the market close enough to firm & any change to the prices was potentially to do with a step up or back in polish/finish from the previous sales.

A small mixed sample of feeder steers & heifers struggled to gain momentum, there were very limited numbers of yearling steers or heifers in the 280/350kg range, a small mixed offering of weaner steers sold reasonably well with odd sales to 472c, weaner heifers with softness sold well to reach 346c whilst weaner heifers with content or lacking quality prices varied, sales for the pens gaining buyer interest from backgrounders or fatteners sold to current rates however the remainder struggled to get much attention.

Bullock numbers remain elusive the best making to 324c, cows over 520kg made to 284c most didn’t exceed 270c albeit as mentioned above many lacked finish to a/v 265c firm, cows 450/520kg sold to 269c to a/v 240c once again finish playing a part in a drop of 14c, cows under 450kg in small numbers made to 274c for younger types to a/v 241c, heifers over 400kg in good numbers topped at 314c to a/v 299c up 21c in line with an improved quality, bulls over 600kg reached 270c to a/v 259c with the averaging improving for the second week in a row up a further 9c.

Steers 400/500kg in small numbers sold to 330c to a/v 306c, steers 350/400kg darn too few to quote reached 394c on occasion to a/v 331c, steers 280/350kg in a small mixed class the best or the weaners in this class peaked at 466c to a/v 355c, Steers 200/280kg in slightly better numbers sold to 472c to a/v 410c a drop of 26c, steers under 200kg NQ.

Heifers 350/400kg lacking numbers made to 288c to a/v 273c, heifers 280/350kg also short numbers topped at 350c for the weaner portion the a/v was 280c firm, heifers 200/280kg in slightly better numbers sold to 346c to a/v 270c in line with what was mentioned above, heifers under 200kg in small numbers lacking polish topped at 230c to a/v 216c.

There was 1 x 1 heifer with a calf making $700 for the unit.
