CHARTERS TOWERS STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – FRIDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER 2025

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,459 Store cattle, consisting of 847 Steers, 521 Mickeys, 2,063 Heifers and 23 Cows & Calves.

Store cattle were made up of a good quality run of heavy feeder Steers and Heifers which sold to strong feedlot and live export competition. The weaner yarding was very mixed and was dominated by second grade Mickeys. The lead sold firm however a quality-related cheaper trend was evident. The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Cloncurry, Julia Creek, Lakeland, Tablelands, Mt Garnet as well as local and coastal areas.

• A pen of 19 Crossbred Feeder Steers A/c PJ & AC Marriott, Lakeland sold for 360¢/kg, to weigh 405kg and return $1,459 per head.

• A pen of 25 Brahman Feeder Steers A/c V & T Hill-Warner, Charters Towers sold for 352¢/kg, to weigh 409kg and return $1,439 per head.

• A pen of 10 Brahman Backgrounder Steers A/c TNJ & LF Bethel, “Stockman Creek”, Einasleigh sold for 376¢/kg, to weigh 301kg and return $1,131 per head.

• A pen of 28 Brahman Weaner Steers A/c GW & J Shadforth, “Lincoln Springs”, Ingham sold for 384¢/kg to weigh 227kg and return $871 per head.

• A pen of 13 Crossbred Heifers A/c PJ & AC Marriott, Lakeland sold for 346¢/kg to weigh 429kg and return $1,483 per head.

• A pen of 25 Crossbred Backgrounder Heifers A/c EJ McIntosh, “Canterbury Park”, Hughenden sold for 364¢/kg, to weigh 287kg and return $1,044 per head.

• A line of 661 Brahman Weaner Heifers A/c Swiss Australian Farm Holdings, “Neumayer Valley”, Julia Creek sold to a top of 312¢/kg, to weigh 220kg and return $660 per head.

• Cows and Calves were mixed lots selling from $750 to $1,350 per unit.
