Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,175 Cattle, consisting of 2,377 Prime Cattle and 798 Store Cattle. The Prime Cattle consisted of 578 Bullocks, 388 Heifers, 1,313 Cows and 98 Bulls. The Store Cattle consisted of 352 Steers, 445 Heifers, 0 Cows and 1 Cow & Calf.

Cattle comprised of a large mixed quality yarding of predominately Prime Cattle with only a small offering of Store cattle available. The yarding was drawn from Camooweal, Mount Isa, Richmond, Hughenden, Mount Garnett, Malanda, Normanton, as well as local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 10¢ easier, Heifers were 15¢ easier, Cows were 5¢ easier, Bulls were 20¢ easier, on last week’s rates.

  • Bullocks topped at 398¢/kg with 11hd sold on A/c P & J Green, Wongabell that weighed 692kg to return a $2,754 per head.
  • Best priced Trade Heifers were presented on A/c Jonelle McDowall that sold for 364¢/kg that weighed 460kg to return $1,675 per head.
  • The top pen of Cows was sold on A/c Jonelle McDowall for 364¢/kg that weighed 503kg to return $1,830 per head.
  • Heavy Bulls sold on A/c H & S Dahl topped at 356¢/kg that weighed 810kg to return $2,885 per head.

Store Quotes: Store Cattle were reduced in numbers with only a handful of Steers/Mickeys and two runs of Brahman Weaner Heifers from North West Qld.

  • A good pen of 10 Heifers on A/c Brown & Sons, “Yeldham Station”, Burketown sold for 340¢/kg, to weigh 326kg and return $1,109 per head.
  • 1 Cow & Calf sold on A/c LPC Grazing to return $675 per unit.
