DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 1ST OCTOBER 2025

Buyer representation was solid with the regular local and southern operators in attendance, along with an additional feeder buyer from South Australia. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock struggled under the weight of numbers, although well-bred lines remained in demand. Yearling steers to feed experienced mixed quality and price fluctuations, however the over 480kg lines sold to stronger competition. Buyers were selective on light and medium weight yearling heifers to restockers and feed, while heavy weight yearling heifers to feed showed an improvement in price. Heavy grown steers and bullocks sold to firm demand. The large offering of cows could not maintain the previous sale’s levels, easing 4c to 10c/kg, with plainer conditioned lines least affected. Light weight yearling steers to restockers sold to 540c, with a good sample averaging 476c to 493c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed reached 528c, averaging 483c to 488c/kg, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed topped at 530c to average 473c to 476c/kg. The best of the light weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 468c, with the largest numbers averaging 416c to 420c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 468c, averaging 418c to 421c/kg, while heavy weight heifers to feed reached 476c, and those over 480kg topped at 466c to average 460c/kg. Bullocks sold to 439c to average 430c/kg, and heavy grown heifers reached 436c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 345c and sold to 356c/kg, while heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 374c, with the best heavy weight cows making to 404c and averaging 387c/kg. Heavy weight bulls topped at 463c/kg, with one bull returning $5,083/head.
