DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 8TH OCTOBER 2025
The number of cattle penned at Dalby reduced by 971 head to 6,573. The number of cows available also fell to 1,100 head, however the supply of bulls increased to 505. Export buyer attendance was good, with southern operators providing the most support. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged within a few cents of the previous week. Yearling steers to feed varied according to quality but overall experienced very little change in price. Only top-end quality yearling heifers were in demand, and a small drop in quality resulted in a large reduction in price, with losses of up to 20c to 28c/kg. Heavy grown steers and bullocks experienced very little change in price. Medium weight plain-condition cows were cheaper, however good heavy weight cows gained 5c to 10c/kg. Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to 538c and averaged from 474c to 490c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 500c and averaged from 471c to 475c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 508c, with a large sample averaging from 468c to 473c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock or background made to 466c to average 407c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 458c and averaged from 397c to 417c/kg, while heavy weight yearling heifers to feed also made to 458c to average 413c/kg. Heavy grown steers made to 448c and bullocks made to 436c, with most at 424c/kg. Grown heifers made to 423c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows made to 357c to average 341c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 379c, and the best of the heavy weight cows made to 420c to average 398c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 463c/kg.
