Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 2,883 Prime cattle, consisting of 481 Bullocks, 423 Heifers, 1,698 Cows and 281 Bulls.

Cattle comprised of mixed quality runs, from heavy finished bullocks through to plain condition northern cows. Bullocks were the highlight of the day, with strong competition for heavy finished cattle. All regular processors were in attendance. The yarding was drawn from Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Burketown, Georgetown, Mount Garnet, Einasleigh as well as local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes:

Bullocks were quoted 10c dearer, heifers were firm, cows were 10c dearer and bulls firm on last week’s rates.

• A pen of heavy bullocks were sold on A/c Barbwire Creek for 390c/kg, weighing 804kg, to return $3,136 per head.

• Bullocks topped at 429 c/kg, sold on A/c Greg Glaister, weighing 618kg, to return $2,654 per head.

• Best priced trade heifers were presented on A/c Winsper Family Trust, “Korong Station”, Cloncurry, selling for 378c/kg, weighing 424kg to return $1,605 per head.

• The top pen of 15 cows were sold on A/c Mt Douglas Pastoral Co, “Mt Douglas”, Clermont for 364.2c/kg, weighing 576kg to return $2,096 per head.

• Bulls sold on A/c Burdekin Downs Pastoral Trust, “Burdekin Downs”, Charters Towers, for 340c/kg, weighing 814kg, to return $2,770 per head.
