EMERALD CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – THURSDAY 23RD OCTOBER 2025
Emerald combined agents yarded 1,755 head at today’s Prime and Store Sale, with cattle drawn mainly from local areas, with the inclusion of a few lines from further north. Overall quality and condition were mixed due to seasonal conditions, though there were some very good runs of feeder heifers and weaners. The market went against the southern trend, aligning with Gracemere and Charters Towers, and was stronger across all categories. Heavy bulls sold to a top of 363c/kg to average 330c/kg, while cows saw a good lift across all weight ranges, with those over 520kg topping at 367c/kg to average 347c/kg and lighter cows 400–450kg selling to 358c/kg to average 322c/kg. Prime heifers to processors reached 399c/kg to average 343c/kg, and bullocks over 500kg sold to strong competition, reaching 430c/kg to average 420c/kg, with HGP-treated bullocks to 427c/kg. Feeder steers were in short supply and mixed in quality, with the best making 419c/kg to average 403c/kg. Weaner steers of good quality 200–280kg made up to 486c/kg, averaging 419c/kg. Feeder heifers 350–400kg met good demand from processors and feedlotters, topping at 388c/kg to average 329c/kg. Increased restocker activity lifted the weaner heifer market, with the best 200–280kg types reaching 380c/kg to average 359c/kg.
