EMERALD CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – THURSDAY 4TH DECEMBER 2025
Emerald combined agents yarded 1,973 head at today’s prime and store sale. Cattle were drawn from all local areas and were generally of reasonable quality. As expected and consistent with other QLD selling centres prime cattle sold to a softer trend as we approach the Christmas shutdown period for processors. The store section held firm with strong results achieved on the better-quality lines. A large run of bulls was present today, selling to strong competition, with the best heavy bulls reaching 392c/kg to average 350c/kg. Only a small offering of bullocks came forward, selling to a softer market, with bullocks over 500kg topping at 430c/kg to average 420c/kg. The cow market softened slightly, with the best cows over 520kg selling to 389c/kg to average 378c/kg, back 10c/kg from last week. Lighter cows held firm, with cows 450–520kg averaging 366c/kg and cows 400–450kg averaging 348c/kg. Prime heifers sold to 415c/kg. Feeder steers again met strong competition, with 400–500kg steers topping at 498c/kg to average 445c/kg. Weaner steers also sold to strong demand, with the best 200–280kg steers reaching 538c/kg to average 479c/kg.
