DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 10TH DECEMBER 2025
The final Dalby sale for the calendar year drew a large yarding of 7,146 head, down 621 from the previous week, and marked the largest end-of-year sale since 2018. Cow numbers lifted to 1,373 head, along with 371 bulls, and females dominated all sections of the yarding. Export buyer attendance was not as strong as the previous week, however most of the regular feed and trade buyers, along with restockers, were active. Prices in places were unable to maintain the previous week’s levels, with well-bred lines continuing to meet strong support while plainer types were noticeably cheaper across all categories. Cows sold to a market 4c to 10c/kg cheaper. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 574c, averaging 525c, with poor-quality lines around 424c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 578c, averaging from 501c to 510c/kg, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold to 536c, averaging 492c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock averaged 427c to 428c with sales to 472c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 408c to 435c with some to 470c/kg, and heavy weight yearling heifers to feed reached 483c, averaging 426c/kg. The good supply of heavy grown steers made to 442c, averaging 435c/kg, while bullocks sold to 449c to average 433c/kg. PTIC cows to restockers made to 393c, averaging 366c/kg. Medium weight 2-score cows to processors made to 365c, averaging 352c/kg. Heavy weight 3-score cows averaged 382c, and the best of the cows sold to 410c, averaging 396c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 420c/kg. Around 335 calves were sold through open auction, with the best reaching $1,010/head.
