DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 21ST JANUARY 2026

Dalby agents penned 7,238 head, an increase of 1,774 on the previous sale. Included in the yarding were close to 1,400 cows of very mixed quality and 320 bulls. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock continued to receive strong support, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed experienced some quality-related price variation. Most yearling heifers to restockers or feed could not maintain the previous week’s levels, easing by 5c to 20c/kg. Grown steers and bullocks sold to a cheaper trend. Cow prices also softened, with processor lines 10c to 15c/kg cheaper, although store condition cows were the least affected. Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to 596c/kg, with a large sample averaging from 528c to 539c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 550c/kg and averaged from 506c to 521c/kg, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 514c/kg to average 488c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 458c/kg, with most sales from 405c to 421c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 460c/kg and averaged from 413c to 416c/kg, while heavy weight yearling heifers made to 460c/kg to average 432c/kg. Bullocks made to 478c/kg and averaged 452c/kg. Medium weight plain condition cows to restockers made to 368c/kg to average 343c/kg, with processor lines averaging 338c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 370c/kg, while the best cows made to 389c/kg to average 382c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 414c/kg.
