DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 28TH JANUARY 2026
Extreme weather conditions across the supply area restricted stock movement, resulting in a reduced yarding at Dalby. Agents penned 4,265 head, a decrease of 2,973. Included in the lineup were a good sample of 958 cows and 216 bulls. A fair panel of buyers was present; however, most operated very selectively. Prices generally could not maintain the levels of the previous sale. Lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold to a cheaper trend, with only top-quality lines in demand. Yearling steers to feed averaged 5c to 20c/kg lower. Lightweight yearling heifers returning to the paddock averaged up to 30c/kg cheaper, while heavyweight yearling heifers to feed lost over 20c/kg. Heavy grown steers and bullocks to export processors averaged around 5c/kg cheaper. All classes of cows also lost ground, averaging 4c to 7c/kg lower, with restocker lines the least affected.
