Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 1,305 cattle consisting of 467 Prime Cattle & 838 Store Cattle. The Prime cattle consisted of 97 Bullocks, 106 Heifers, 197 Cows and 67 Bulls. The Store Cattle consisted of 349 Steers, 437 Heifers & 52 x 38 Cows & Calves.

Cattle comprised of a mixed quality yarding with prime cattle made up of isolated pens of finished Bullocks, Heifers and Cows selling to a buoyant market. Being the first Sale back for 2026 there are no previous quotes to mention. The yarding was drawn from predominantly the Charters Towers region with isolated consignments coming from Richmond, Hughenden as well as local and coastal areas.

  • Bullocks Topped at 396.2¢/kg sold on A/c Johnson Pastoral Pty Ltd that weighed 521kg to return to $2,064 per head.
  • Best priced Trade Heifers were presented on A/c Johnson Pastoral Pty Ltd that sold for 402¢/kg and weighed 407kg return to $1,636 per head.
  • The top pen of Cows were sold by P Everingham & D Simms for 372¢/kg weighing 454kg to return $1,689 per head.
  • Bulls sold on A/c MG & HJ Bredden topped at 356¢/kg and weighed 466kg to return $1,660 per head.

Store Quotes: Store Cattle were presented in mainly good quality and condition with crossbred Steers selling to a very active buyers’ panel. The balance of the yarding of Steers & Heifers opened to a similar market on how it closed in 2025.

  • A pen of 49 Steers on A/c Lawrie Grazing Trust, “Powlathanga Station”, Charters Towers sold for 544¢/kg, to weigh 221kg and return $1,204 per head.
  • A good pen of Heifers on A/c Johnson Pastoral Pty Ltd made 394¢/kg, weighed 371kg and returned an average of $1,461 per head.
  • Cows and Calves sold on A/c IM Grazing returned $1,375 per unit.
