EMERALD CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – THURSDAY 12TH FEBRUARY 2026
Emerald combined agents yarded a total of 2,230 head of mixed-quality cattle at this week’s Prime & Store sale, with numbers predominantly drawn from local areas and one line from the Charters Towers district. Overall, the better-quality and well-conditioned cattle sold strongly, with the market firm to slightly dearer on recent results. Bulls sold to a top of 398c/kg to average 371c/kg, lifting 17c/kg on last week. Heavy cows reached 392c/kg to average 368c/kg and remained firm, while secondary cows topped at 394c/kg to average 366c/kg. Bullocks sold to a high of 449c/kg to average 426c/kg, rising 9c/kg on last week’s average. Feeder steers reached 510c/kg to average 459c/kg, gaining 4c/kg on both the top and average due to quality. Heavy heifers sold to 423c/kg to average 400c/kg, remaining relatively firm. Weaner steers topped at 526c/kg to average 447c/kg, with this category easing slightly due to quality. Feeder heifers sold to 400c/kg to average 367c/kg, also softening slightly on quality. Weaner heifers reached 420c/kg to average 375c/kg, with the top lifting 10c/kg while the average remained firm. Cows and calves sold to a top of $1,900 per head to average $1,706 per head.
