DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 4TH MARCH 2026

Numbers at Dalby increased by 454 head to a total yarding of 6,482. The offering included 1,384 cows and 246 bulls. Export buyer attendance was strong, with one additional southern processor operating, while the regular panel of feedlot and trade buyers remained active throughout the sale. Yearling steers to restockers and feed generally experienced price improvements. Yearling heifers followed a similar trend, with improved quality in places lifting average prices by up to 30c/kg. Cows also lifted, gaining 2c to 7c/kg, with cows returning to the paddock improving by up to 14c/kg. Lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold to 582c/kg, with a large sample averaging 521c to 523c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 550c/kg and averaged 509c to 510c/kg. Heavyweight yearling steers to feed topped at 510c/kg, with most sales around 490c/kg, some returning up to $2,472/head. Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers made to 442c/kg, with most sales from 378c to 396c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed sold to 450c/kg and averaged 410c to 433c/kg. Heavyweight yearling heifers to feed averaged 424c/kg, with one consignment of 150 head making 460c/kg to return $2,096/head. A small sample of heavy grown steers and bullocks sold to 470c/kg and averaged 444c/kg, while one very heavy manufacturing bullock returned $3,833/head. Medium weight plain condition cows to restockers made to 370c/kg and averaged 345c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows to processors averaged 346c/kg. Heavyweight 3 score cows averaged 370c/kg, with the best pen lots making to 400c/kg and averaging 388c/kg. Heavyweight bulls were dearer at 420c/kg.
