DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 1ST APRIL 2026

The supply of stock into Dalby reduced by 2,569 head to a total of 5,203. This yarding included 1,213 cows, 1,281 heifers, and 2,313 steers. A fair panel of export buyers were present and operating, alongside a full field of feedlot, trade, and restocker buyers. Prices across most categories followed a cheaper trend. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock were notably affected, selling for around 24c/kg less and considerably more in some cases. Medium weight steers to feed were the least impacted, with minimal price changes, while heavy weights declined by 6c to 15c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers recorded the largest declines, dropping by over 40c/kg, particularly on poorer quality lines. Yearling heifers to feed averaged 16c to 25c/kg cheaper. All cow categories also trended lower, with reductions ranging from 14c to 36c/kg. Despite the softer market, light weight yearling steers to restockers sold to a top of 508c/kg and averaged between 445c and 465c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market reached 528c/kg, averaging 472c to 487c/kg, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed peaked at an isolated 528c/kg, with most sales around 459c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers made up to 380c/kg and averaged 306c to 337c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged between 352c and 361c/kg, with sales to 390c/kg, while heavy weight yearling heifers to feed reached 414c/kg and averaged 374c/kg. A small sample of bullocks sold to 420c/kg, averaging 409c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 289c/kg and made up to 311c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 329c/kg, with the best reaching 368c/kg and averaging 357c/kg. Heavy weight bulls sold to a top of 389c/kg.
