DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 8TH APRIL 2026
A combination of the short working week and recent price reductions led to a decline in cattle numbers at Dalby, with yardings falling by 1,229 head to 3,974. Despite this drop, the number of cows penned remained relatively high at 955 head. Export buyer attendance was strong, although one feeder and trade buyer was absent from the young cattle selection. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock recovered some of the losses seen in the previous week, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 2c/kg higher. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers also regained some ground, and this positive trend extended to yearling heifers to feed, which recorded an increase in average prices. The cow market remained largely fi rm to marginally cheaper, with restockers particularly active on plainer condition lines. Light weight yearling steers to restockers sold for up to 548c/kg, with a good selection averaging between 490c and 501c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged 450c to 456c/kg, with sales reaching 508c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made up to 485c/kg, averaging 462c/kg.
