Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 2,345 cattle. Consisting of 1,452 Prime cattle & 893 Store cattle. Prime cattle consisted of 321 bullocks, 168 heifers, 890 cows & 73 bulls. The Store cattle consisted of 539 Steers, 340 Heifers, 14 Cows & 14 X 14 Cows & Calves

Cattle comprised a yarding of well-finished medium-frame Ox & Cows, with minimal fat Heifers and Bulls throughout the yarding. All cattle sold to a strong buying panel. The yarding was drawn from the west to Richmond & Hughenden, as far north as Normanton, down the coast & south to Collinsville, along with plenty of cattle from the local region.

Prime Quotes
Bullocks were quoted unchanged, Heifers were unchanged. Cows were 20c dearer & Bulls were 10c dearer on the last sale rates.

Store Quotes
Store cattle comprised minimal numbers of heavy feeder steers and heifers, with majority of the yarding consisting of lighter-weight northern Brahman-type trade weights and weaners.

  • 4 x 4 Cows & Calves sold on A/c BW & MI Landsberg, “Homeview”, Charters Towers returned $1,700 per unit
