Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 2,195 Cattle, consisting of 1,229 Prime Cattle and 953 Store Cattle. The Prime Cattle consisted of 165 Bullocks, 148 Heifers, 836 Cows and 80 Bulls. The store section consisted of 619 Steers & Mickeys, 321 Heifers and 13 X 13 Cows & Calves

Cattle comprised of isolated pens of well finished Bullocks, large runs of well finished slaughter Cows and a mixed quality yarding of Bulls, which sold to live export and processors. The yarding was drawn from Normanton, Julia Creek, Hughenden, Greenvale as well as local & coastal areas.

Prime Quotes
Bullocks this week softened 6c/kg on the lead pens. Heavy cows softened on the lead also, making out to 294.2c/kg, 10-12c/kg off last sale. Processor Heifers followed the same trend easing 10c/kg on the best pens. Bulls strengthened on the lead with export/processor Bulls topping at 240c/kg, 15c/kg better on last sale.

  • Bullocks topped the job at 346.2c/kg for a pen of baby bullocks/heavy feeder steers on A/c T Whitten, the Steers averaged 526.25kg.
  • Processor Heifers saw the top this week at 316.2c/kg for a pen of Heifers on A/c Zonia Downs Pastoral Co, weighing 440kg.
  • Hillgrove Pastoral Company led the Cow job with a pen making 294.2c/kg with an average weight of 555.6kg.
  • LT & CP Curley had the best Bull topping at 340.0c/kg, for an average weight of 490kg.
