DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 6TH MAY 2026

There was a small reduction of 170 head to 6,735 at Dalby. The number of cows penned also declined, although it remained relatively high at 1,396 head, alongside 2,481 steers. Export buyer attendance was good, with the return of one local processor and support from interstate operators; however, not all regular feed and trade buyers were active in the market. Demand and prices varied in places.

Lightweight yearling steers and heifers to restockers could not maintain the levels of the previous week; however, all other classes sold to a dearer trend. Heavyweight yearling steers to feed improved by 5c/kg, while yearling heifers to feed sold to a market 40c/kg stronger. Heavy grown steers and bullocks averaged 15c to 20c/kg dearer. Cows experienced a much stronger market, with improvements of 30c to 40c/kg. Lightweight yearling steers to restockers sold to 494c, averaging 447c to 456c/kg.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 450c to 474c and sold to 480c/kg, while heavyweights reached 486c to average 455c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers made to 352c, averaging 319c to 338c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 394c and sold to 414c/kg. Heavyweight yearling heifers to feed made to 442c to average 391c/kg, while processor lines reached 440c/kg, with some returning $2,150/head.

Heavy grown steers and bullocks averaged 450c and made to 460c/kg. Medium weight two-score cows averaged 304c and sold to 330c/kg, while heavy weight three-score cows averaged 337c, with the best making 385c to average 368c/kg. Heavy weight bulls sold to 390c/kg.
