DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 13TH MAY 2026

The number of cattle penned at Dalby remained virtually unchanged at 6,765 head, including 1,572 cows, 2,515 heifers and 2,258 steers. Buyer representation was good across all classes, with strong competition throughout the market and prices generally dearer across most categories.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock improved by 20c to 24c/kg, while yearling steers to feed lifted by 5c to 15c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers gained 12c to 30c/kg, and yearling heifers to feed improved by 5c to 15c/kg. Heavy grown steers and bullocks also experienced strong competition. Plain condition cows to restockers averaged 12c/kg better, while cows to processors were firm to marginally dearer following the stronger gains recorded at the previous sale.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers sold to 514c/kg, with a good sample averaging 472c to 475c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed reached 462c and averaged 456c/kg, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 470c and sold to a top of 504c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 390c/kg, with the largest numbers selling from 355c to 369c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 399c and sold to 458c/kg, while heavy weight yearling heifers to feed topped at 464c and averaged 408c/kg.

Heavy grown steers to export processors sold to 468c/kg and bullocks made to 456c/kg. Grown heifers averaged 424c and reached 436c/kg. Medium weight plain condition cows sold to restockers averaged 302c, with sales to 324c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows to processors averaged 339c/kg, while the best cows sold to 383c and averaged 368c/kg. Heavy weight bulls reached 407c/kg, with some returning up to $4,499 per head.
