DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 17TH JUNE 2026

Dalby yarded 5,874 head, down 2,155 on the previous sale, continuing the national trend of declining cattle supply. Cow numbers remained relatively high at 1,400 head, along with 369 bulls.

A strong panel of export buyers was active, although not all regular feedlot and trade buyers attended, while restocker demand remained solid and helped lift competition across several categories.

Lightweight yearling steers to restockers improved by around 10c/kg, with some lines recording larger gains. They sold to a top of 600c/kg and averaged 541-545c/kg. Medium-weight feeder steers reached 560c/kg and averaged 528-552c/kg, while heavy feeder steers sold to 548c/kg and averaged around 527c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers returning to the paddock showed only quality-related price changes, topping at 504c/kg and generally selling from 451-463c/kg.

Medium-weight feeder heifers reached 518c/kg and averaged 477c/kg, while heavy feeder heifers also averaged 477c/kg and sold to 528c/kg. Export bullocks averaged 7c/kg dearer, with a fair selection selling to 486c/kg and averaging 465c/kg. Grown heifers to export processors made to 466c/kg.

The cow market was mixed, with medium-weight plain-condition cows remaining fully firm, while better-conditioned heavy cows eased by 7-13c/kg. Medium-weight two-score cows averaged 344c/kg and sold to 365c/kg, while heavy three-score cows averaged 381c/kg. The best heavy cows reached 406c/kg and averaged 402c/kg.

Heavy bulls continued their upward trend, improving by more than 30c/kg. They sold to 488c/kg and averaged 446c/kg, with some individuals returning as much as $5,143/head.
