DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 24TH JUNE 2026
Cattle numbers at Dalby fell by 497 head to 5,377, with cow numbers also declining to 1,112 head and 324 bulls yarded. Of the total offering, 4,812 head came from the local supply area, including one consignment of 698 head.
While not all major export processors were present, competition from feedlot and restocker buyers was strengthened by interstate operators. This increased demand, particularly from southern buyers, helped lift prices for lightweight yearling steers to restockers by more than 20c/kg. Yearling steers destined for feedlots also sold to a stronger market, gaining between 8c and 18c/kg.
Feeder heifers outnumbered feeder steers, with heifer prices improving by 10c to 17c/kg. In contrast, the cow market generally trended lower, with medium-weight plain-condition cows easing by 6c/kg, and heavy 3 and 4 score cows falling by 12c to 18c/kg. Lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock reached a top price of 626c/kg, with most sales ranging from 550c to 582c/kg.
Domestic feeder steers sold for up to 582c/kg and generally averaged between 536c and 566c/kg, while heavy feeder steers reached 594c/kg and averaged 546c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers sold to an occasional high of 526c/kg and mostly averaged between 445c and 471c/kg. Medium-weight feeder heifers made up to 534c/kg and averaged from 484c to 487c/kg, while heavy feeder heifers topped at 538c/kg and averaged 494c/kg across a large selection. A small number of bullocks sold to a top of 478c/kg and averaged 460c/kg.
Medium-weight 2 score cows averaged 337c/kg and peaked at 352c/kg. Heavy 3 score cows averaged 370c/kg, while the best heavy cows reached 400c/kg and averaged 384c/kg.
