Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 2,789 Store Cattle. Consisting of 1,651 Steers, 1,098 Heifers, 40 Cows & Calves. 

Cattle comprised of good lines of feeder steers and a couple of small lines of crossbred weaners. Overall quality was better than last week and prices improved accordingly, however, secondary types and lightweight Brahman weaners were heavily discounted.

The yarding was drawn from Cammoweal, Richmond, Hughenden, Georgetown, Einasleigh, Mt Garnet as well as local and coastal area.

  • A pen of 16 Steers A/c NQ Easy Contracting, “Jervoise Station”, Greenvale made 434c/kg, and weighed 438kg, returning an average of $1,902 per head.
  • A good pen of 29 Steers on A/c Arrow B Contracting made 552c/kg, weighed 271kg and returned an average of $1,498 per head.
  • A pen of 18 Steers on A/c B Entiken averaged 506c/kg and weighed 337kg to return $1,707 per head.
  • A pen of Heifers A/c RG Jones, Einasleigh averaged 410c/kg to average 219kg to return $917 per head.
  • A pen of Heifers A/c C & N Miller averaged 418c/kg to average 219kg to returned $917 per head.
  • Cows & Calves sold on A/c AH Pastoral Co returned $1,625 per unit.
