DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 12TH AUGUST 2026
Following the widespread reduction in prices at the previous sale, numbers at Dalby eased by close to 3,000 head to 5,132, with the cow component declining to 1,267 head.
The yarding also included one consignment of 242 head from Thargomindah. A full panel of export buyers was present and operating, although not all regular feeder buyers were in attendance. Restocker demand strengthened with the return of interstate orders from Guyra, Coonamble and Gunnedah, as well as continued interest from local operators.
Lightweight yearling steers and heifers returning to the paddock regained the previous week’s losses, with improvements of 30c to 40c/kg. Medium and heavyweight yearling steers to feed sold to good demand for the quality penned. Buyers remained selective on medium and heavyweight yearling heifers to feed, with only the better-quality lines attracting strong competition.
A fair sample of bullocks averaged 20c/kg less. A larger number of plain-condition cows came forward this week, with prices remaining firm to 3c/kg lower. Lightweight yearling steers to restockers averaged from 514c to 517c and sold to 592c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 503c to 511c, with isolated sales to 588c/kg. Heavyweight yearling steers to feed also reached 588c, with the largest numbers around 510c/kg.
