CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 26TH AUGUST 2026

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 1,853 cattle, consisting of 1,262 Prime cattle & 591 Store cattle. The Prime cattle consisted of 600 Bullocks, 198 Heifers, 312 Cows and 152 Bulls.
The Store cattle consisted of 437 Steers, 18 Mickeys, 143 Heifers, and 11 Cows & Calves.

Cattle comprised of good quality Bullocks and trade-weight Heifers with isolated pens of processer Heifers. There were fewer Cows on offer with some good quality pens of heavy Cows and pens of slaughter and good export Bulls. The yarding was drawn from Hughenden, Georgetown, Einasleigh, Forsayth, Ingham, Torrens Creek as well as local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted unchanged, Heifers were 10¢ easier, Cows were 5¢ easier, and Bulls were Firm on last week’s rates.

  • Bullocks topped at 384.2¢/kg for a pen of 17 sold on A/c CW & NC Miller that weighed 588kg to return $2,260 per head.
  • Best Priced trade Heifers were presented on A/c Jonelle McDowall that sold for 372.2¢/kg and weighed 432kg to return $1,607 per head.
  • The top pen of Cows were sold on A/c RG & LM Wearing for 338.2¢/kg, weighing 620kg to return $2,098 per head.
  • Bulls sold on A/c Dreghorn Cattle Co topped at 366.2¢/kg and weighed 800kg, to return $2,929 per head.

  • A pen of 9 Steers on A/c Brown & Sons, “Mayfield Station”, Duchess made 416¢/kg and weighed 315kg returning an average of $1,313 per head.
  • A  good pen of Heifers on A/c RD & LA French, “Gilberton Station”, Einasleigh made 352¢/kg, weighed 340kg and returned an average of $1,197 per head.
  • 11 x 11 Cows and Calves ranged from $350 to $1,450 per unit.
