DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 26TH AUGUST 2026

There was a slight increase in supply at Dalby with the yarding rising to 4,207 head up just over 100 head on the previous sale. The offering included 952 cows and 324 bulls. Most of the regular export and feeder buyers were in attendance and operating. The restocker buying panel contained a good mix of local and interstate operators.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 20c to 40c/kg better. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market also averaged up to 40c/kg dearer and the heavy weights experienced a small improvement in price. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged 25c/kg dearer and more in places.

Strong demand from feeder operators continued for a quality offering of yearling heifers with average prices increasing by up to 40c/kg from the previous sale. Cows generally sold close to the levels of the last sale with only quality related price changes. Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to 582c with most sales around 536c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to a top of 616c with the largest numbers averaging 560c to 599c/kg.

Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 576c to average 532c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 518c with a large sample averaging from 433c to 451c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 490c and sold to 532c and the heavy weight portion made to 530c to average 484c/kg.

Bullocks made to 472c and averaged 452c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows to restockers made to 368c and averaged 352c while the processor lines averaged 339c and made to 355c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 368c and the best of the cows made to 408c to average 388c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 451c/kg some returning $5,085/head.
