CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER 2026

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 2,033 cattle, consisting of 1,010 prime cattle & 1,023 store cattle. The prime cattle consisted of 382 Bullocks, 198 Heifers, 319 Cows & 111 Bulls.
The Store section consisted of 399 Steers, 173 Mickeys & 451 Heifers.

With reduced numbers presented this week, cattle comprised of fewer finished Bullocks and Cows which were sought after by all processors. Competition improved across all types in the prime section. The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Burketown, Richmond, Hughenden, Georgetown as well as local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes;
Bullocks were quoted 10-20c dearer, Heifers were 20-30c dearer, Cows were 30-40c dearer, and Bulls were 10-20c dearer on last weeks rates.

  • Bullocks topped at 404.2c/kg for 17 Ox sold on A/c MI McClymont, Richmond that weighed 610kg to return $2,468/hd
  • Best Priced trade Heifers were presented on A/c  AJ Paine & Son, Hughenden that sold for 394.2¢/kg and weighed 507kg to return $1,999/hd.
  • The top pen of Cows were sold on A/c AJ Paine & Son, Hughenden for 394.2c/kg¢/kg, weighing 595kg to return $2,345/hd.
  • Bulls sold on A/c M & S Macnamara, Mt Isa topped at 383.2¢/kg and weighed 416kg, to return $1,593/hd.

Store Quotes:
Store cattle were made up of a few good lines of Steers and Heifers with good Crossbred types attracting the best competition. Plainer younger types were less sought after.
