CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER 2026
Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 2,553 cattle, consisting of 1,452 prime cattle& 1,101 store cattle. The prime cattle consisted of 399 Bullocks, 196 Heifers, 561 Cows and 296 Bulls. The store cattle consisted of 753 Steers, 105 Mickeys, 333 Heifers and 15 Cows & Calves.
The sale comprised of some good prime cattle showing a strong lead with a large amount of very mixed pens showing the effect of the declining season, that still sold to a solid market. The yarding was drawn from Chillagoe, Mt Isa, Burketown, Georgetown as well as western, local and coastal areas.
Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 5¢ dearer, Heifers were 8¢ dearer and Bulls were 5¢ dearer on last week’s rates.

- Bullocks topped at 415¢/kg for 9 No. 4 Ox sold on A/c AJ & MA Spurdle, “Linden Hills”, Mingela that weighed 562.2kg to return $2,333 per head.
- Best priced Trade Heifers were presented on A/c Philipson Holdings that sold for 392.2¢/kg and weighed 422kg to return $1,655 per head.
- The top pen of Cows were sold by RJ, JJ & SR Hyden, “Merengo”, Bowen for 370.2¢/kg, weighing 555.63kg to return $2,056 per head.
- Bulls sold on A/c Matt McClymont “Truro” Hughenden topped at 382.2¢/kg and weighed 558kg, to return $2,134 per head.
Store Quotes: Store Cattle were of a mixed quality. Some very good lines of local cattle, as well as some lighter condition weaners showing the effects of the season.

- A good pen of Heifers on A/c Older Fleet Cattle Co made 350.2¢/kg, weighed 311kg and returned an average of $1,089 per head.
- Cows & Calves sold on A/c CP & NA Ferguson, “Cardigan”, Charters Towers for 3 x 3 head and returned $1,000 per unit.
