CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER 2026
Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,525 Cattle, consisting of 1,903 Prime Cattle and 1,622 Store Cattle. The Prime Cattle consisted of 819 Bullocks, 131 Heifers, 686 Cows and 267 Bulls. The Store section consisted of 971 Steers, 598 Heifers and 53 Cows & Calves.
Cattle comprised of a mixed quality and condition yarding. Isolated pens of well finished Bullocks were presented, with the majority being plainer types which sold to increased rates due to competition from a new feedlot operator. Heifers and Cows were also mixed in condition but sold firm and experienced only quality related price changes. The yarding was drawn from Burketown, Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Richmond, Normanton, Georgetown as well as local and coastal areas.
Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 5¢ dearer, Heifers were 8¢ easier, Cows were 5¢ easier and Bulls were unchanged on last week’s rates.

- Bullocks topped at 418¢/kg on a/c Turley Cattle Co that weighed 606kg to return a $2,538 per head.
- A line of 185 No.3 Brahman Feeder Steers A/c RJ, JJ & SR Hyden, “Old Victoria Downs”, Charters Towers sold to 416¢/kg to average 403¢/kg, weighed 433kg and returned $1,746 per head.
- Best priced trade Heifers were presented on a/c EJT & KL Camp that sold for 382¢/kg and weighed 434kg to return $1,660 per head.
- The top pen of Cows was sold by a/c Fernlea Farming for 376¢/kg, weighing 557kg to return $2,098 per head.
- Bulls sold on a/c GI Brahman Stud topped at 375¢/kg and weighed 607kg, to return $2,278 per head.
Store Quotes: Store cattle consisted of one isolated run of Brahman Steers as quoted below selling to a very competitive buying panel, With the balance of the yarding being also very mixy with all feeder weight types selling to a firm to dearer trend with all other categories remaining firm on previous weeks.

- A good pen of Heifers on a/c Zandonadi Investments made 398¢/kg, weighed 356kg returning $1,419 per head.
- Cows & Calves on A/c Natural Tablelands Pty Ltd returned $2,025 per unit.
