DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER 2026
Cattle numbers at Dalby eased by 1,335 head to 5,840, with the offering including one large consignment of 546 head. The yarding contained a fair sample of cows, with 1,298 penned, along with larger numbers of plain condition lines and 466 bulls. Buyer attendance was good, with representatives covering all classes, while strong interstate restocker support continued. Despite the dry seasonal conditions, prices improved across most categories.
Yearling steers returning to the paddock increased by more than 20c/kg, while yearling steers to feed gained 10c to 15c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged 20c to 30c/kg dearer, and yearling heifers to feed averaged 20c to 24c/kg higher. Heavy grown steers and bullocks to export processors sold to a slightly dearer market.
Plain condition cows to restockers averaged 20c/kg better and more in places, while processor cow lines recorded small improvements in price. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 576c, with a large selection averaging from 516c to 535c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 546c and averaged from 506c to 515c/kg, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 558c, with the largest numbers selling around 526c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 460c, with most sales ranging from 413c to 433c/kg.
Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 496c and averaged around 444c/kg, while heavy weight yearling heifers to feed reached an isolated 514c and averaged 451c/kg. Heavy grown steers and bullocks made to 496c and averaged from 462c to 485c/kg, while heavy grown heifers made to 472c/kg.
Very plain condition cows to restockers made to 359c and averaged 335c/kg, with better condition lines averaging 353c and reaching 364c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows to processors averaged 343c and made to 359c/kg, while heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 368c, with the best cows making to 398c and averaging 391c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 440c/kg.
