CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER 2026

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,302 cattle, consisting of 2,066 prime cattle& 1,236 store cattle.  The prime cattle consisted of 908 Bullocks, 282 Heifers, 625 Cows and 251 Bulls. The store section consisted of 777 Steers, 183 Mickeys, 267 Heifers and 9 x 9 cows & calves.

Cattle comprised of a larger yarding of finished Bullocks and Trade Steers with strong competition on the better types and Trade Steers. Competition was strong across all categories with only the rougher types finding the market less attractive. The yarding was drawn from Croydon, Burketown, Einasleigh, Julia Creek, Hughenden and Greenvale as well as local and coastal areas.​​​​​​​

Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 20¢ dearer, Heifers were 30¢ dearer, Cows were 10¢ dearer, and Bulls were 10¢ dearer on last week’s rates.

  • Bullocks topped at 416.2¢/kg on A/c Valley Cattle Co, “Valley of Lagoons”, Ingham that weighed 700kg to return $2,913 per head.
  • A Very good heavy No.4 Feeder Steers (Milk + 2tooth) made 450.2¢/kg, sold on A/c Brambah Grazing, “Gilgunyah”, Hughenden that weighed 450kg and returned $2,305 per head.
  • Best Priced Trade Heifers were presented on A/c Damien Stephens, Woodstock that sold for 418.2¢/kg and weighed 414kg to return $1,713 per head.
  • The top pen of Cows were sold by A/c SP Grazing, “Spring Park”, Greenvale for 372.2¢/kg, weighing 488kg to return $1,814 per head.
  • Bulls sold on A/c TNJ & LF Bethel, “Stockman Creek”, Einasleigh topped at 398.2¢/kg and weighed 415kg, to return $1,653 per head.

Store Quotes: Store cattle were made up of a few good runs of Trade Steers and Heifers which received the most attraction with younger types more volatile depending on type and quality.

  • A good pen of Heifers on A/c LCM Contracting, Charters Towers made 380¢/kg, weighed 358kg and returned an average of $1,360 per head.
